Itty Bitty Pretty Sweater by Maison Dene
Hey friends! Today I’m sharing a finished project I made…. oh… 6 months ago? Where does the time go? Anyways, here’s the Itty Bitty Pretty Sweater by Maison Dene that I made for my daughter, Eleanor, last fall!
As a knitwear designer, it’s very easy to get caught up in the business side of knitting. To keep from burning out, I like to make time to knit at least a couple of personal projects every year. One of my goals is to knit Eleanor a new sweater every fall.
This past fall, we had some beautiful family photos taken by my friend Katie from Moments That Make Us. In true procrastiknitter style, I was still knitting Eleanor’s sweater until just a day or two before. But hey, I finished it and it fit perfectly!
I wanted to use a high quality yarn that was also durable (because toddlers) and soft, so I chose Cascade Heritage in Snow. I’ve previously made socks for my husband out of this yarn, and he’s still wearing them almost ten years later, so it’s definitely durable! The sweater took less than two skeins, so it’s very economical!
I knitted the 4 year size, which fit my 4 year old perfectly with no modifications. The pattern is very well written, and I just love the lace detail! It is a pretty light sweater, so I pair it with a plain long sleeved tee underneath.
Are you making time for any personal projects this year? Let me know in the comments below!
