Hey gang! Today I thought I’d share my double pom pom hat pattern with you!
I’ve had a few questions about how I attach the double poms, so I’ve included a video tutorial, and also a tutorial to walk you through the decreases.
Please note: the pattern below is for the newborn size. The full ad-free pattern with sizes from newborn through adult can be found here.

Brim:
With US size 13/9 mm needles, CO 28 sts with the long tail method. Pm and join in the round, being careful not to twist sts. Work in k1, p1 rib for 4 rounds.
Body:
Switch to US size 15/10 mm needles and knit in Stockinette stitch (knit every round) until hat measures 4 ¼ in from cast on (about 14 total rounds).
Decreases:
*ssk, k3, k2tog, pm. Repeat from * 3 times more (8 sts decreased).
Knit 1 round.
*ssk, k1, k2tog, slip marker. Repeat from * 3 times more.
K2tog around.
Cut yarn, leaving an 8 in tail. Weave tail through remaining stitches and draw to close top of hat. Weave in ends and block, if desired.
Double Poms:
Use a 2 ½ in pom pom maker to make 2 poms (wrap yarn around 5 times, or until full).
Attach the poms 3-4 sts below the top of the crown (see video below). Weave ends back through pom and trim ends.
